The AHA’s new BLS Course has been updated to include science and education from the 2020 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. We teach both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with a professional AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

Course Content

  • Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  • The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
  • 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Multi-rescuer resuscitation
  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant.

This package also includes the American Red Cross Emergency Oxygen Provider certification course. This course offers knowledge and training for skill necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators, and emergency oxygen. Certification is valid for two years
